Airlines’ liquid in hand luggage restricions to be cancelled
Mar 16th
Under Government plans to relax restrictions, after the upgrade of airport X-ray machines, airline passengers will be able to carry any amount of liquid in hand luggage once more.
Limitations to 100 millilitre bottles will be over for passengers. And duty-free alcohol can be bought without the risk of it being taken away.
In laboratories in Germany, the screening technology is undergoing secret tests. Scientists are checking its accuracy in detecting bottles of hydrogen peroxide and other liquids that can be turned into bombs.
The liquid ban was imposed in August 2006 after terrorists planned to detonate suicide bombs and has cost the aviation industry more than ‚£100 million in increased security costs and lost duty-free sales.
In six months to a year‚s time the restrictions will start to be removed and allow passengers to carry any size of bottle they like inside their hand luggage, like it was before August 2006, which will please all British holidaymakers.

Nov 26th
New Zealand, Cape Town, Italy and York have come top as the Telegraph readers’ favourite destinations in the newspaper’s annual travel awards.
In a recent poll of more than 25,000 readers, 92% maintained that the credit crunch would not affect their choice of holiday destination.
Favourite airlines included Singapore Airlines, Virgin and Emirates while San Fransico, Vancouver and Sydney came out as the most popular cities to visit.
New Zealand came first for the third successive year. Holiday budgets also seem to be defying the credit crunch, with over half of those polled spending more than ‚£1000 on their last holiday, and one in six spending between ‚£2500 and ‚£5000.
