Tourism in Tunisia makes up a lot of the national gross domestic product (GDP), according to official figures, up to 70% revenue is made from tourism.
Tourism Minister Khelil Lajimi said in a recent interview with Reuters, “It would be a good result if we achieve the same revenue as last year amid this international crisis which has made European tourists very hesitant to travel to any destination.
The increase in travellers to the North African holiday destination shows Tunisia has the capability to avoid the financial crisis.
However, holidaymakers from struggling economies across the world will be looking for good foreign exchange rates, holidaying away from the Euro-zone currency may be the deciding factor for many tourists and their budgets.
