The UK cruise market according to experts will be bigger than ever, with more choice of destination, larger ships to choose from, experts are predicting an ‚upswing‚ on this particular market in the travel industry.
This year alone the cruise industry has seen a boost in interest as well as sales and experts don‚t think this trend will go away soon, especially with more UK holidaymakers showing interest in cruise holidays.
According to eTurboNews, “The Passenger Shipping Association said that about 1.5 million people in Britain took to cruises in 2008. Despite the huge economic downturn, these same kind of figures were seen in 2009 and are expected again in 2010.
With travel agents and tour operators reducing prices for cruise holidays, the affordability of a cruise holiday has opened up the market to more UK holidaymakers than ever before.
Iceland sees increase in visitor numbers!

According to the Icelandic Tourism board July saw an increase in tourism of 1.2 percent in comparison to the previous year.
Last year was a record breaking year for visitor numbers with 500,000 visitors, a record likely to be equalled or broken.
Tour operators, hoteliers and care-hire companies have noticed a decline in tourism of groups, yet have noticed an increase in individuals and couples since the crash of the Icelandic Krona (ISK) in October 2008.
Although tourism for the year is down 1.7 percent, the increase in tourism last month has put a positive edge on the upcoming months, and with Iceland in competition with other European city break destinations, the results are showing much promise in its recovery.
Independence of the Seas to be UK based

As of winter 2010, Southampton will be the base of one of the biggest cruise liners in the world, the Royal Caribbean Independence of the Seas will be UK based.
The passenger capacity of 4,000 ship will cruise to the Canaries and Mediterranean for 11-18 night durations.
A major marketing campaign will be launched by Royal Caribbean aiming to target consumers and trade organisations, in order to develop point of sale information for travel agents and tour operators.
The deployment of the Independence of the Seas from the UK port will generate approximately ‚£50million worth of revenue for the region.
