Protect your self on the slopes this winter
Jan 8th
Essential ski wear is a must when going on a skiing holiday in Europe for example; more importantly having the correct holiday insurance could save skiing holidaymakers a hefty bill.
The Independent reports, “The bare minimum cover you should expect from a winter sports policy is medical expenses, piste rescue and repatriation.
The European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) which replaced the E111 form will cover holidaymakers for state care; however winter sports enthusiasts may find that injury on the ski slopes could end up costing them thousands if the correct insurance is not purchased.
The independent says that personal liability cover should also be included in the insurance cover, “If you go on a ski slope without personal liability insurance, you are mad,” says the founder of a specialist holiday insurer.
A winter sports policy should also include;
‚ Lost or stolen equipment replacement or lift passes
‚ Piste and lift closure (technical problems or the weather)
‚ Unused tuition costs (sickness or accident)
‚ Off piste skiing (more for experienced skiers).
AprĬs ski activities are often not included in winter sport insurance, another policy exemption to check if holidaymakers are likely to take part in such activities.
