Reassurance for people booking package holidays from Holidays-Direct
Jan 12th
Holidays-Direct and partner sites, Ski-Direct, Cruises-Direct and CityBreaks-Direct have a clear policy of helping all package holiday customers in the event of a third party airliner or tour operator experiencing financial difficulties.
Reassuring customers is vital in peak booking periods says Holidays-Direct who believe holidaymakers peace of mind is an important factor to consider as the new year begins, especially as the economic downturn has proved such a struggle for over 20 companies in the travel industry during 2009.
Jon Pearce explains how it affected customers of Holidays-Direct, “During recent times we‚ve had about 2000 of our passengers affected, including XL and Globespan airline failures, Eurostar fire and weather stoppages, and also Easyjet pulling all flights out of East Midlands.
Jon continues, “Our customers have always received a suitable alternative holiday or a full refund immediately when they are affected by such an incident. Independent travellers normally have to foot the bill for the rest of their holiday in the unlikely event of an airline failure or other problem.
Package holidays and package tours are covered by ATOL and ABTA; Holidays-Direct believe loyalty towards customers is now paramount in the build up to a stronger 2010 for the travel industry. Late bookings increase according to latest poll
Sep 3rd
Late bookings for summer holidays abroad have seen a sudden surge due to the poor UK weather, according to a poll by a popular airliner.
The online survey asked visitors if UK weather had an impact on their holiday plans for the summer, nearly half the respondents confirming a late overseas holiday would be booked, whilst 23% of people said the bad British weather had impacted on their holiday choices, but would not be booking any holiday breaks until next year.
The remaining respondents said that UK weather had very little impact on their holiday decisions.
Liz Savage, Managing Director of the popular airliner said, “The results of the poll clearly indicate however that a huge number of holidaymakers who have holidayed in the UK this summer are now planning to travel overseas to take advantage of some fantastic late deals and guarantee themselves some sunshine before the grey winter months set in.”
Holidays-Direct recently reported an increase of holidays in Turkey over summer 2009, and bookings to European destinations and tropical holiday resorts also saw a rise due to poor UK weather.

Children influence holiday destination decisions!
Aug 21st
A recent poll by Travel Weekly has found almost 80% of children surveyed have a big influence on the destination choices of family holidays.
Of the 2000 children questioned which were aged between 5 and 15 years, 17% were allowed by their parents to choose where to go on holiday.
Just over half the respondents (64.4%) had some influence in the; ‚where are we going to go on our summer holiday‚ decision. Whilst less than 22% of children surveyed had no say what-so-ever in the decision.
Holiday companies will now be using this vital information in adapting their marketing strategies. Although this has been recognised before, many took it as a negative due to children ‚pestering‚ on where they want to holiday.
