BAA to invest in Glasgow Airport

Over the next couple of years BAA are said to be spending ‚£25 million investing in improvements to Glasgow Airport, ‚£12 million to be spent in the next year and ‚£13 million in 2011.
Improvements to the airport will benefit passengers, as plans include;
‚ A terminal pier upgrade
‚ New food court
‚ Facility enhancements in the main terminal building.
Amanda McMillan, MD for Glasgow Airport recently said, “This investment package is good news for passengers and good news for the economy of Glasgow and the west of Scotland, particularly at a time of recession.
The aim of the development and improvements is make passenger experience better as well as make the taxiway and runway infrastructure more efficient, which will lead to the operations of the airport running more smoothly.
Holiday destinations from Glasgow Airport include; Canaries, Bulgaria, Turkey, Egypt, Madeira, Portugal and the USA.
Facilities at Luton set to improve

New facilities in Luton Airport have been introduced to improve the consumer experience when travelling to many short or mid haul destinations.
With increasing passenger numbers to the airport, a new access plan will conveniently aid in passenger management, thus minimising delays and creating a more enjoyable experience for all.
The scheme includes:
‚ Mid-term car park area which will allow passengers to be dropped off or collected in a 60 minute period.
‚ Public transport interchange; Bus, Coach and Rail services to stop outside terminal building.
Destinations from Luton Airport for holidays of all types include; Spain, Turkey, Bulgaria, Tunisia, Greece and many more‚¦
AirAsia purchases Airbus at Paris Air Show

Long-haul airliner AirAsia X has revealed a ‚£1.34 billion order for aircraft at the Paris Air show. The low budget carrier, part of AirAsia, is purchasing 10 A350-900 Airbus‚s, with a possibility of 5 more aircraft.
The decision to expand AirAsia‚s fleet follow‚s the introductory flights from London‚s Stansted airport to Kuala Lumpur back in March 2009. This route will enable the airliner to realise potential in expansion to more airports in:
‚ London
‚ Melbourne
‚ Perth
‚ Gold Coast (Australia)
‚ Tianjin
‚ Hangzhou (China).
The strategy for AirAsia is to develop a long term vision, with time and time scales being of great importance, developing the brand and organisation slowly enabling the business model development to take into consideration the current economic trends the company will face.
Tony Fernandes, CEO of AirAsia Group told TravelMole, “At a time when many airlines are cutting back routes and grounding staff and aircraft, the current economic downturn has presented AirAsia X with an unprecedented opportunity to gain market share with our low-fare, high quality business model.
The low budget, long-haul carrier will receive the Airbus A330‚s throughout 2015.
