Online travel agencies are becoming more and more prominent in holiday bookings; 87% of people planning a holiday said they would go online to plan their trip. Only 24% said they would visit a high street travel agent or phone call operators, a new survey has found.

People do not just plan their holiday online – 67% also intend to book their holiday or short break online.

The survey by Foolproof also found that just 13% were going into the high street shops to actually make travel plans, the rest only went to pick up brochures.

“People have really embraced the web as a place to find out about their travel plans. The main reasons for this are the perceived convenience and ability to minimise the risk of making a poor choice. However, our in-depth research showed that the shopping journey isn’t as easy and hassle-free as it should be,” Foolproof founding partner Tom Wood said.
