Value for money Euro destinations

Popular European holiday destinations such as Spain, Italy and France will offer great value for money this summer according to the travel industry body, ABTA.
According to ABTA spokesperson Frances Tuke, affordability will be good throughout Euro destinations as competition is hotting up between non-Euro and Euro destinations.
Egypt and Turkey, popular non-euro destinations, offer great value for money and with the summer holiday season not yet begun, the Costa Del Sol and the Italian Riviera are reducing prices to compete.
Ms Tuke also said about avoiding the school holiday rush by gong to long-haul destinations such as Florida and the Caribbean, alternatives to European holiday resorts.
Berlin hosts the latest easyHotel

Low cost entrepreneur Stelios Haji-Ioannou has brought his affordable hotel chain to Berlin by opening a stylish budget hotel; fully equipped with air conditioning, TV and internet access on request.
The easyHotel chain now has hotels in top city break destinations including, London, Zurich, Basel, Budapest, Larnaka, Sofia and Luton, with the next one being planned for Dubai.
The 125 room budget hotel in Berlin is situated in the Hackescher Markt area of Germany‚s capital, with easy access to tram and subway stops to enable city break travellers to find their way around the city‚s attractions.
Calum Russell, Commercial Director of easyHotel.com said: “We are very excited about the opening of our Berlin Hotel especially as we have seen unprecedented levels of demand since we opened reservations.

Brits warned not to “drink and ski “

UK skiers are being warned of the dangers of drinking when skiing, as the effects worsen at higher altitudes.
The Foreign Office is launching a campaign aimed at holidaymakers in a bid to reduce the number of people killed or injured in alcohol related skiing and aprĬs ski accidents.
Posters have been erected in French ski resorts with the slogan, ‚Don‚t Catch Your Death‚ to highlight the risks.
The British Ambassador to France, Peter Westmacott said, “We are telling our compatriots to be careful – when you consume too much alcohol at altitude and it’s cold, the danger is greater.”
Remember: know the risks, be prepared and dress accordingly for the weather.
IHG open Disney hotel

Intercontinental Hotel Group (IHG) have announced a new opening of a Holiday Inn at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando Florida.
The 323 room hotel is based at the Hotel Plaza Boulevard, with IGH saying, “The minute guests step into the glass-ceiling atrium, the citrus scent, harmonious sounds, lush foliage and floor to ceiling views of the zero-entry tropical pool will guarantee that guests are set to experience a new Holiday Inn‚.

Mobile boarding from London Heathrow with Continental Airlines

Continental Airlines are the first carrier to introduce mobile boarding at London‚s Heathrow Airport. The US based carrier is the first airliner to offer mobile boarding a paperless facility, on flights from the UK to the USA.
Travellers will have a pass sent to a mobile device in the form of a two dimensional barcode and is scanned at the security and boarding checkpoint.
Mobile boarding from Continental Airlines is available from 42 airports and was the first airliner to introduce mobile boarding to international destinations such as Frankfurt.
Continental Airlines Vice President of Reservations and E-Commerce, Martin Hand said, “We are pleased to add Heathrow to the growing list of airports we serve with mobile boarding passes.
“Customers have told us this is the type of product improvement they want and we will continue to expand the self-service technology to more of our domestic and international destinations.”
Currently flights from London Heathrow with Continental Airlines fly to New York and Houston.
USA travel boost expected with new legislation

New legislation introduced by the US government is being brought to clarify travel and security policies for visitors and travellers to the USA and to promote America as a top tourist destination.
The new programme is aimed at attracting an extra 1.6 million visitors which will increase consumer spend by up to ‚£2.6 billion ($4 billion).
President and Chief Executive of US travel Association, Roger Dow said, “This is a historic victory for the US economy and the one in eight American workers whose jobs depend on travel.
“The United States Congress has sent a clear message that travel is a high priority to our nation and that tangible steps must be taken to increase travel to and within the United States.”
President Obama is expected approve the legislation in the next week.
Currently holidaymakers and business travellers visiting the USA are required to complete the ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorisation) before departing to the US on a family holiday to Orlando Florida, or taking a romantic city break in New York.
