Turkey sets visitor bar high!

The Culture and Tourism Minister for Turkey has said they will be anticipating approximately 33 million visitors by the end of 2012.

Over 18 million visitors entered Turkey in the first eight months of this year with an increase of just over 1% on the previous year, with the most popular destinations being Marmaris, Bodrum and Fethiye.

UK holidaymakers account for more than half the visitors to Turkey’s most popular holiday resorts, with the exchange of Turkish Lira to the pound being strong, value for money is much higher than travelling to a Euro destination.

Ertgrul Gunay, Minister of Culture and Tourism said that Turkey’s tourism industry is poised for further growth in coming years, “We’re also very excited to be host to Istanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture, showcasing the city as an international capital of culture and art.”
