Survey reveals Spain to be budget friendly
Foreign currency information survey, Holiday Cost Barometer produced by the Post Office Travel Services, has shown that many UK holidaymakers look to reduce costs of holidays as well as maximising their travel budgets whilst at their chosen destination.
Buying food locally and eating out less as well as not spending as much on drinks are just some of the measures taken to reduce holiday spending.
With the value of the pound against currencies such as the Euro, many UK holidaymakers have chosen destinations out of their comfort zone and are travelling further afield to mid to long haul destinations.
Bulgaria, Turkey and Egypt have been some of the most popular destinations of this year for Brits, whilst destinations such as Spain, Greece and Portugal have been favoured less due to value for money not being as good as previous years.
However, the Holiday Cost Barometer survey revealed Thailand to be the top of the survey and Spain in 2nd place, with a 10 item basket of holiday essentials including, sun-cream, drinks and meals costing under ‚£55. UK travellers are making the most of holiday budgets by travelling to cheaper holiday resorts.
