Plane sailing in the Canaries
Jun 30th
Local business men from the Canary Islands have disclosed plans to bring in a seaplane service, operating from Santa Cruz (Tenerife) and Las Palmas (Gran Canaria).
Supporters of the project are for the ease of travelling to and from the islands, saving holidaymakers and business travellers much time getting to and from their local airports, plus seaplanes have minimal environmental impact.
Steven Earl, Spokesperson for Harbour Air Seaplanes said, “The Canary archipelago is an ideal place to establish a seaplane service. Since the optimal duration of flight for these aircraft is 30-35 minutes, with a flying range of between 100-200kms.
New in the Sun reported, “Potential for seaplane tourism could be a great success factor. Other possible uses for the planes include emergency hospital transfers, from more remote islands directly to the major hospitals in the islands‚ capitals.

Blue Flag Awards take into account the following criteria when rating beaches worldwide:

Great beaches as well as accommodation, flights, budgets to name but a few are some of the factors holidaymakers consider when deciding upon which destination to travel to whilst booking beach holidays.
bmi increase UK flight links
Jun 30th
bmibaby are to increase UK flights from Glasgow and Edinburgh Airport to Leeds/Bradford Airport later this summer.
The new flights will have a re-vamped timetable, enabling business travellers and city break tourists more time to spend in the West Yorkshire city or vice versa in Edinburgh and Glasgow. Operating 2 flights daily from Scotland to Northern England will improve passenger flexibility, thus giving the airline a greater advantage over its competitors.
bmi Regional‚s Commercial Director said, “bmi Regional has been the UK’s most punctual airline for 4 years running and through improved schedules and fantastic rewards for Diamond Club members, we strive to provide business and leisure travellers with the best possible level of service and added benefits.”
Whilst bmi expands on domestic flights, from Glasgow to Leeds/Bradford airport a larger aircraft will be introduced, also in a bid to expand and develop domestic links.
