One of the world’s largest cruise liners has recently announced its intention to resume visiting Mexico, based on information and guidance from the Centres for Disease Control (CDC) since the outbreak of Swine Flu.

Whilst many cruise liners are wishing to return to Mexico, the Cruise Line Industry Association (CLIA) for North American cuise industry, warns that safety must be assured before return visits to the country.

Carnival Cruise Lines will begin return visits to Mexican ports in mid-June, however Gerry Cahill, President and CEO of Carnival Cruise Lines says that the health and wellbeing of passengers and crew is of utmost importance, and points out that the decision to return to Mexico has been carfully analysed by the CDC.

Strict policies and procedures have been set in place by the CDC; every cruise liner must follow the guidlines which include:
‚ Passengers and crew to complete health questionnaires before boarding
‚ Stocking of influenza test kits
‚ Stocking of anti-viral medication.

The return to Mexico is an important decision by the cruise liner and the need financially for Mexican tourist destinations.
