Holiday bookings for 2009 start well
Feb 27th
The holiday booking season for 2009 has started well so far this year, with reports of a promising season for holidaymakers to travel abroad for their holidays. January and February enquiries and bookings were reportedly better than anticipated.
A spokesperson at ABTA said, “People will find a way to pay. They tend to cut back on things on home improvements and still go on holiday.” ABTA believe that holiday spending in 2009 will be similar to that of 2007, where just over 70million people travelled abroad for their holidays.
Travel agents and tour operators have commented previously that Turkey, Morocco and Egypt will be popular countries to holiday this year, as they are out of the Euro-zone. Holidaymakers are becoming much more decisive in where they want to holiday, and to get the best possible package deal.
Due to the increased coverage of how important the carbon footprint is many people are becoming more aware and understanding of what a carbon footprint is, and want to reduce it. Offsetting carbon footprints is getting much easier, as many tour operators and airlines are introducing the option on their websites.

Later this year Bulgaria will launch into rural and eco-tourism, their new caption will be “The nature welcomes you‚. The launch of such a specific area of tourism has come into play as travel and tourism is currently suffering in the recession.
The Bulgarian tourist board are introducing the initiative in order to develop the potential of tourists to the country, and around 34% of Bulgaria nature remains untouched.
Tourism has developed both in cultural tourism and business tourism, in ski resorts, SPA resorts and in the largest towns where many people travel to for sun holidays including Sunny Beach and Golden Sands.
The Bulgarian tourist board are aiming to introduce a new image by adding eco and rural tourism to the forefront of the country‚s agenda, making it more diverse and offering visitors another option.
Looking at the long term prospects of tourism in Bulgaria for eco and rural tourism will ensure the mountain regions will be instrumental for the future of Bulgarian tourism.
Las Vegas is becoming more affordable
Feb 25th
Las Vegas is becoming a much more affordable destination with many reductions on hotels and internal flights. Vegas is becoming more inexpensive and great value for money, making now the best time to visit.
The popular Nevada city experienced less tourism spending in 2008 and the tourist board are hoping to increase on last years figures. Visitor numbers were also down by 4.5% in comparison to 2007.
“We realize we are in difficult economic times, but we understand that people want to take a break and still have a good time,” says Vince Alberta, spokesman for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA). “Vegas is the place to do that.”
Booking package holidays is the best way of generating the best possible price for holidaymakers. A trip to Sin City will most likely cost as much as it did 5 years ago, when the dollar was approximately $1.7-1.85 to the pound in exchange. Now hotel and flight prices are being reduced, the affordability may be even greater!
