The ‘Eco-friendly’ and ‘Green’ Snowboards

A new trend is formulating the ski slopes this season, with many people now concerned about their carbon footprints, manufacturers have had to develop and design something more economically friendly with regards to snowboarding.

Burton snowboard factory of Vermont, USA are manufacturing their first green snowboard, namely Eco Nico. Made from certified wood, recycled steel, and lacquer free materials Burton’s Business Unit Director explains “is the greenest of the green, the most sustainable board we’ve ever made.”

Snowboards made from ‘green’ products account for only 2% of the market; however with more innovative creations in process the choice to have an eco-friendly snowboard will soon be vast.

Competition in designing an eco-friendly snowboard will now be warming up as many more manufacturers are being recognised for inventing new ways and means of making such a prominent piece of winter sport equipment.
