In 2008 Turkey had more than 26 million holidaymakers, making the tourism income of $21 billion in a year. With tourism having a growth rate of 2% across the world, Turkey saw an increase of 13% alone.

Ismet Yilmaz, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, believes Turkey is one of the top ten countries of the world, in terms of international and domestic tourism visitors and tourism income.

The holidaymaker hotspot of Antalya received its 9th million visitors last month, thus making it as popular as Egypt which has wondrous, cultural and historic monuments such as the Pyramids.
