Christmas travellers welcome duty free increase
As of yesterday British holidaymakers returning from far-flung holiday destinations will be able to bring back more duty free goodies with them.
The duty free limit on alcohol has been raised to over twice the current limit to 16litres of beer and 4 litres of wine.
The value limit on other products such as perfumes and electronics has also more than doubled to £300. In January 2009 there will be a further increase to £340.
‘The duty free goods laws now match the needs of the ever adventurous 21st century traveller. This announcement is great news for travellers and the industry,’ said the Association of British Travel Agents.
