Expansion for Andorra’s ski facilities

Andorra is taking steps to boost tourism to the country with the expansion of and improvements to a number of ski resorts.

The popular resort Pal will have artificial snow throughout the winter, supplied by a lake that is being built. This work is in reaction to disappointing snowfalls at the start of the 2006-7 season.

The increased popularity of snowboarding has prompted a new snowboarding and freestyle ski are to be opened in Pal.

The beginners’ area at the VallNord resort is being expanded and a new conveyor belt installed.

Las Marrandas slope in Arinsal is being developed, it is hoped it will be open in time for the next winter ski season.

Andorra is a hugely popular skiing destination, receiving more British skiers than Switzerland, the USA and Canada combined despite being a very small country.

Its popularity is in part due to its suitability for beginner skiers and the wide choice of cheap ski holidays in Andorra. The country’s ski schools enjoy wonderful worldwide reputations.

There has been regular investment in Andorra’s ski resorts over recent years. Andorra’s main resorts are Arinsal, La Massana, Pas de la Casa, Soldeu.
