Estonian government to boost Tallinn tourism
The Estonian government has announced plans to invest in a three-year tourism development plan in Tallinn.
The state will invest €155 million in boosting the city’s tourist attractions, transport and events along with promoting Tallinn as a holiday destination.
The government is keen to help the growth in foreign visitor numbers to Estonia and to modernise the tourist information services.
Tallinn has become a popular citybreak destination and is one of the favourite choices for stag weekends.
British visitors are attracted by the lively nightlife with its range of bars, nightclubs and pool halls.
However, Tallinn is more than a party destination as it is an ancient coastal capital, an important city in Medieval Europe that is well preserved today.
The city is relatively unspoilt as it has only developed a tourist industry in the last ten years or so and is regarded as a prime location for romantic citybreaks.
Tourists can soak up history and explore the innovative Science and Technology Centre. The city’s restaurants offer a range of world cuisines, from traditional Estonian, through French to Chinese.
